Inside a Stunning Heritage Hotel Southbury CT Wedding
Some weddings follow a script. Kevin and Monica's? They wrote their own.
The Heritage Hotel in Southbury, Connecticut has this way of feeling elevated without being stuffy. The reception space is all warm wood beams, soaring ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with natural light. At night, string lights take over and the whole space transforms. It is the kind of venue that just works, and I was here for every second of it.
But Kevin and Monica were not about to let the venue have all the fun.
They showed up to their own wedding with swords. We photographed the entire wedding party holding them in front of the stone fireplace and it is one of my favorite shots I have ever taken. That is just who they are. Bold, intentional, and completely themselves.
Monica was stunning in her off-the-shoulder lace gown, tiara, and a cascading bouquet that honestly could have had its own Instagram. Kevin spent most of the night grinning, and by the end his groomsmen had him up on someone's shoulders living his best life.
Their first dance under those string lights with their people circled around them? That is exactly why I do this.
Then came the Greek money dance, a beautiful tradition from Monica's culture where guests shower the couple with money as a blessing for their new life. Monica was surrounded on the floor, laughing with her eyes closed, dollar bills everywhere. The joy in that room was loud and it was real.
They partied until the very end. UConn friends, family, everyone in between. The energy never dropped.
The Heritage Hotel is a dream venue for couples who want rustic warmth without losing elegance. But Kevin and Monica are the reason this day was unforgettable. They brought the culture, the swords, and every bit of themselves.
I was honored to be there for all of it.
