A Spring Wedding at Heritage Hotel

Ashley and Brian’s wedding day on April 5 was one of those days that just felt right. Everything about it was so aligned with who they are as individuals and as a couple. There is something incredibly special about watching two people who connect on every level celebrate their love in a way that feels effortless, intentional, and deeply personal.

One of my favorite parts about documenting their wedding was how familiar everything felt. Ashley and Brian are part of a friend group whose weddings I’ve had the honor of photographing before, so the entire day felt less like work and more like hanging out with the crew. The energy was relaxed, supportive, and full of genuine joy, which always sets the tone for an unforgettable wedding day.

They chose to do a first look, and I will forever be a fan of this choice. It gave them the space to slow down, take it all in, and actually enjoy the moments in between. Those quiet exchanges, the deep breaths, the laughs that happen when no one else is watching. That is where the good stuff lives.

While the weather had other plans, Ashley and Brian leaned right into it. We pivoted their portraits indoors and let me tell you, the reception space at the Heritage Hotel delivered. The light, the textures, the warmth of the room made for such a stunning backdrop. It was the perfect example of how flexibility on a wedding day can lead to something even better than originally planned.

Because they were intentional with their timeline, Ashley and Brian were able to take most of their photos before the ceremony. That meant once the ceremony wrapped, they could fully enjoy cocktail hour with their guests, drinks in hand, soaking in the celebration without feeling pulled away.

The ceremony itself was one of the most meaningful parts of the day. They were married by a close friend, and honestly, it could not have been more them. It felt intimate, heartfelt, and personal in a way that only happens when the person standing up front truly knows your story.

Ashley and Brian’s wedding wasn’t about perfection. It was about presence, connection, and celebrating with the people who mean the most to them. And those are always the days that stay with me the longest.

If you’re planning your wedding and wondering if it’s okay to do things your way, to pivot when needed, and to prioritize time together, this is your sign. It always works out when it feels like you.
